SEKISUI Chemical Group

A New Frontier, A New Lifestyle.

Since its founding, the SEKISUI Chemical Group has delivered a wide range of products and services to enrich people's lives and the social infrastructure. Our corporate philosophy of creating social value while responding to stakeholders' expectations, has us advancing our efforts on a daily basis.

The SEKISUI Chemical Group pledges to continue pioneering new frontiers through prominent technologies and quality, contributing to improve the lives of people around the world and global environment, and through these efforts realizing further growth.

The company's goal is to work together as one to be a company that can be trusted by the members of society and achieve continued growth.

When SEKISUI became the first Japanese company to establish operations in the U.S. fifty years ago, they had great aspirations for their business.

SEKISUI Polymer Innovations stands today as a successful result of what two cultures, united in a common goal, can achieve. At the core of our business model are two fundamental constants: Our mindset to continually improve our manufacturing quality through proven, rigorous Japanese processes (Kaizen, Monuzukari, etc.), and our commitment to educate and inspire our customers – rather than sell them.

Sustainability Initatives

Committed To A Responsible Environmental Policy

At SEKISUI SPI, being "green" is no recent trend. In fact, being environmentally responsible is an essential part of our business philosophy. We strive to produce and sell all of our products while keeping with our commitment to and regard for safety, health, and environmental protection worldwide.

Did You Know...

SEKISUI SPI thermoplastics are 100% recyclable – making them a sound investment for your company AND the environment.

Our Optimized Manufacturing Processes

We always work to limit the environmental impact of our sheet manufacturing, by optimizing our processes to increase yield while reducing waste.

For instance:

Did You Know...

During the winter, heat produced in the manufacturing process is recycled to heat our manufacturing facilities.

Protecting Our Natural Resources

Air – By using clean energies such as electricity in the manufacture of thermoplastics, insignificant particulate matter or carbon dioxide is emitted from the production process into the air.

Water – During the manufacture of SEKISUI SPI thermoplastics, we limit the use of water for processing; in fact, water never comes in contact with the process. Where water is used, it is recycled internally, and no surface water is discharged.

Energy – At two of our three facilities, raw material is shipped to us in rail cars to minimize fuel consumption.

Making Sustainable Products

Our thermoplastic sheets require lower processing temperatures when compared with most other polymers in the industry. This translates into lower energy consumption, that when combined with high-efficiency motors and sophisticated temperature controls allow us to create high quality products that are also very energy efficient.

Our Standards

We Hold Our Facilities to the Highest Standards.

Our manufacturing operations and R&D facilities are certified to the ISO 14001 environmental management system, as well as the ISO 9001:2000 quality management system. Our commitment to the ISO 14000 standards ensures that KYDEX complies with applicable laws and regulations while minimizing how our operations affect the environment.

ISO 9001 / 14001

We practice and honor above and beyond best practices for our industry, business and planet.

Why? We agree with the International Standards Organization and practice Kaizen.

Certifications

ISO 9001: Quality management system
ISO 14001: 2004: Environmental management system

The ISO 9000 and ISO 14000 families are among ISO's (International Organization for Standardization) most widely known and successful standards ever. ISO 9000 has become an international reference for quality requirements in business-to-business dealings, and ISO 14000 looks set to achieve at least as much, if not more, in helping organizations meet their environmental challenges. ISO 9000 is concerned with "quality management." This means what the organization does to enhance customer satisfaction by meeting customer expectations and applicable regulatory requirements, continually improving its performance in this regard. ISO 14000 is primarily concerned with "environmental management." This means what the organization does to minimize harmful effects on the environment caused by its activities, and continually improving its environmental objectives.

ISO Principles

Kaizen

Kaizen is Japanese for "improvement" or "change for the better." We can always do better. It's what fuels us, no matter our place in our ecosystem.

Company History

A New Chapter With A Rich Story To Tell.

The story of SEKISUI SPI is one that is still being told, but our origins can be traced back to the companies that we were created from – KYDEX® Thermoplastics and ALLEN® Thermoplastics.

1965 - KYDEX® 100 sheet invented at Rohm and Haas Company, outside Philadelphia, PA. With FAR 25.853 (a) and UL recognized fire rating and other mechanical properties it was destined for aircraft interior applications.

1970 – ALLEN® Thermoplastics opened its doors in Holland, Michigan and began raising the bar in the industry by exceeding the demands of thermoformers with flexibility of our production lines, and multi-layer capabilities.

Today as SEKISUI SPI, we're a formidable competitor and an understated leader in the industries we serve.

IT'S our spirit of collaboration and innovation that drives us to create new industry and market needs, and ENABLES us to deliver more than our customers can imagine.
