Can KYDEX® sheets be recycled?

Yes. KYDEX® sheets can be recycled. Please see Technical Brief 110-A for details.

Can ALLEN® sheets be recycled?

Yes. Our thermoplastic sheets can be recycled. (Frequently by 25-40%) Please see Technical Brief 110-A for details about recycling our KYDEX® product line

Do your products contain asbestos?

No. Our products do not contain asbestos.

Do your products contain PVC?

SEKISUI SPI offers a wide range of polymer options including PVC, ABS, and PC. Please contact your Sales Representative or Technical Service for additional information.

Do your products contain sulfur?

No. Our products do not contain sulfur.

Are your products RoHS Compliant?

Yes. All of our products are RoHS compliant. Please see Technical Brief 110-B for details.

What happens when a KYDEX® or ALLEN® sheet burns?

Please contact Technical Service for a current MSDS/SDS.

What is the recycling symbol/number for an ABS ALLEN® sheet?

The ABS recycling number is 9.

Can I glue KYDEX® sheet to another KYDEX® sheet?

Yes. Depending upon the application, you can use “Superglue” or a 2-part PMMA structural adhesive. See Technical Brief 150-B for details.

Can I glue KYDEX® sheet to metal?

Yes. The best type of adhesive to use is a two-part PMMA adhesive like Devcon Metal Welder. See Technical Brief 150-C for details.

Can I laminate KYDEX® sheet to wood?

Yes. There are several good adhesives for flat lamination. See Technical Brief 150-D for details.

Could you provide some information on Ashland 5050D and 5040D adhesive?

Ashland 5050D and 5040D fall under the Isogrip name brand. ISOGRIP adhesives are one-part, 100-percent reactive, moisture-cured urethane adhesives used for structural bonding of porous or non-porous substrates.

Is Hybond J9238A ok to use with KYDEX® 110?

Yes, this is just for straight lamination to MDF and should work fine.

Is there a water-based adhesive for KYDEX® sheet?

There are only two and they are 3M™ FB30 and XT2000. 3M™ 2262. Please see Technical Brief 150-D for more information.

What adhesive should I use for bonding KYDEX® sheet in a spa area?

3M™ 2262. See Technical Brief 150-D.

What adhesive should I use for bonding KYDEX® sheet to a door for a kick plate?

3M™ FB 30 or solvent-based contact cement. See Technical Brief 150-D for details.

What adhesive should I use for bonding KYDEX® sheet to MDF?

3M™ FB 30 or 3M™ 2262. See Technical Brief 150-D for more information.

What adhesive should I use for bonding KYDEX® sheet to rubber?

Contact 3M™ or another adhesive manufacturer for suggestions on contacting rubber to rigid PVC (no plasticizers).

What adhesive should I use for bonding KYDEX® XD to particleboard?

Contact Cement. See Technical Brief 150-D.

What adhesives could be used in a freezer application?

Contact cement should be ok (at -10 to +20ºF) once it has cured. 3M™ tested from -30 to +180-200ºF.

What are the recommended membrane press adhesives for KYDEX® sheet?

Daubond 6477M, JOWAPUR 151 00 and several others.

What could I use to adhere KYDEX® sheet to sheetrock/wood?

3M™ Fastbond 30 or Mastic. See Technical Brief 150-D for more information.

What is the surface energy of KYDEX® T/KYDEX® 100 and what type of adhesive labels would be the best choice?

33-37. Use labels for lower surface energy plastics.

What would be the lowest temp for adhesive application?

3M™ contact cements and mastics are around 65ºF.

Which adhesive is best suited for applying KYDEX® sheet to painted drywall?

3M™ FB 30. 3M™ FB 30. See Technical Brief 150-D for more information.

Will Titebond® and Marlite® FRP (fiberglass reinforced panels) adhesives work with KYDEX® sheet?

These are water-based mastics similar to XT2000+. See Technical Brief 150-D. We have not tried these so we can’t guarantee their success. Determine suitability for your application.

Can SEKISUI SPI produce KYDEX® sheet with the same texture on both sides?

No. But PK texture would be the closest to the second surface texture.

Can SEKISUI SPI make 61 inch wide sheet in .028 and .040 inch thicknesses?

We can comfortably make 60” wide sheet in .028” and .040” that is fully embossed but anything wider cannot be guaranteed for full emboss outside of 60".

Do you make a 0.500" thick sheet in KYDEX® 107?

No, KYDEX® 107 is made up to .400".

Does SEKISUI SPI make a 20 mil sheet consisting of a 13 mil base and a 7 mil textured surface?

No. This is outside of our capabilities.

What is the thickness of Korad cap and draw capabilities?

Korad thickness is 3 mil. and can be drawn to 6" without excess thinning.

What is the thinnest gauge that can be produced in PA texture?

0.060"(1.50 mm) is the thinnest gauge we are capable of making PA texture.

Will KYDEX® sheet work as a 15 min thermal barrier?

No, since a 15 min thermal barrier is to equal a class 0 drywall.

Will KYDEX® 6200 with a Wood Grain cap pass smoke?

No, KYDEX® 6200 with a Wood Grain cap will NOT pass ASTM E-662

Is KYDEX® 100 chemically resistant to Skydrol®?

In-house results show no change for incidental up to 20 minutes. Submersion lowers Izod by about 25% after 24 hours. It is not recommended that this material be used in a setting where it would come in regular contract with Skydrol®.

Is KYDEX® 152 WG chemically resistant to acetone?

No.

Is KYDEX® sheet chemically resistant to 50% hydrogen peroxide?

General rigid PVC has excellent resistance up to 100% HP at room temperature.

Is KYDEX® sheet chemically resistant to 7% Peracetic Acid and 7% Sodium Hydroxide?

KYDEX® sheet has been tested to a 10% sodium hydroxide solution with no changes. SEKISUI SPI has not tested KYDEX® sheet to peracetic Acid but general chemical resistance charts show rigid PVC being chemically resistant to a 40% solution at room temperature.

Is KYDEX® sheet chemically resistant to battery acid?

KYDEX® sheet should do very well against a 35-50% sulfuric acid solution.

Is KYDEX® sheet chemically resistant to chlorine dioxide?

No direct testing has been done, but general chemical resistant charts state that PVC has excellent resistance to chlorine dioxide.

Is KYDEX® sheet chemically resistant to Cimperial® 1070?

No. It contains monoethanolamine at 5-10%, which is not recommended for use with PVC.

Is KYDEX® sheet chemically resistant to Cydex® disinfectants?

They have not been tested, but Information on the Cydex site states it should be fine. There are material compatibility lists and PVC should be ok. Please contact Cydex for more information.

Is KYDEX® sheet chemically resistant to diesel fuel?

Yes, KYDEX® sheet is chemically resistant to diesel fuel.

Is KYDEX® sheet chemically resistant to dog urine?

No direct testing has been done, but KYDEX® sheet should be fine against urea and ammonia, which are the main chemicals in dog urine. KYDEX® sheet has been tested to ammonia with no changes. Urea in itself is fairly harmless and is found in milk and blood.

Is KYDEX® sheet chemically resistant to hypochlor and phenol based solution?

10% sodium hypochlorite (bleach) would be fine. .5% phenol based should be fine too but please test for suitability.

Is KYDEX® sheet chemically resistant to iodine?

Yes, a 10% solution is removed with a cleaner, according to NEMA testing.

Is KYDEX® sheet chemically resistant to lacquer thinner?

No. Lacquer thinner is not recommended.

Is KYDEX® sheet chemically resistant to Methyl Salicylate (Wintergreen Oil)?

Yes, KYDEX® sheet is chemically resistant to Methyl Salicylate.

Is KYDEX® sheet chemically resistant to PU foam?

Yes, but if it is injected between two KYDEX® sheet panels, the heat may warp the KYDEX® sheet, depending upon sheet thickness and foam temperature. Also, KYDEX® sheet can be sprayed with a solvent-based contact cement to get a better bond.

Is KYDEX® sheet chemically resistant to quatclens, actichlor™, adipic acid or IMS?

Most seem to be for clean rooms and should be ok but testing for suitability is strongly recommended.

Is KYDEX® sheet chemically resistant to sulfur and soluble chloride?

It should be ok in lower concentrations. Test for suitability. See Technical Brief 120-A for details.

Is KYDEX® sheet chemically resistant to xylene?

No, KYDEX® sheet is NOT chemically resistant to xylene.

Is KYDEX® sheet resistant to chlorine?

Dry chlorine is bad for PVC. 10% aqueous solution has been tested and is ok.

What is the chemical resistance of KYDEX® sheet?

KYDEX® sheet has outstanding chemical resistance to a wide range of chemicals. See Technical Brief 120-A for details.

Can KYDEX® sheet be cleaned easily?

Yes. KYDEX® sheet can be cleaned with a wide range of household cleaners. See Technical Brief 160-A and Technical Brief 160-B for details.

Can ALLEN® sheet be cleaned easily?

Yes. ALLEN® sheet can be cleaned with a wide range of household cleaners. Please call for details.

How can drywall dust and paint be cleaned off of textured KYDEX® sheet?

It depends upon paint type and how deep the texture is. You could use Goof Off® or Goo Gone® but it may change the appearance slightly. See Technical Brief 160-A.

Do you have any food-safe products?

Yes. Some ALLEN®  sheet products are FDA and NSF approved for food zone or contact. Please call for details.

What cleaners could I use for food trays?

Which KYDEX® sheet product is most similar to Empire 6800 and 6500?

Either KYDEX® 100 or KYDEX® T could be used in its place.

Which KYDEX® sheet product is most similar to EN212 Noryl?

It needs to meet 94V-0, and have an oxygen index of 28 or better and Rockwell of 115. KYDEX® T or KYDEX® 100 would but Rockwells are around 95 for both. NORYL EN 185 and EN 212 grades are included in our ALLEN® line.

Can damaged KYDEX® sheet be repaired?

Yes, but appearance may change. See Technical Brief 161 for suggestions.

Can damaged ALLEN® sheet be repaired?

Methods vary by product. ALEXTRA™ has very good repairability.

Can I bend or brake form KYDEX® sheet?

Yes, KYDEX® sheet can be braked formed with some limitations. See Technical Brief 142 for details.

Can I cut KYDEX® sheet with a laser?

Yes, KYDEX® sheet can be cut with a laser with proper ventilation and precautions. Technical Brief 110-E for details.

Can I hot stamp KYDEX® sheet?

Yes, see Technical Brief 151-C for details.

Can I perforate or punch KYDEX® sheet?

Yes, KYDEX® sheet can be perforated and punched. See Technical Brief 153-B for details.

Can I weld KYDEX® sheet?

Yes, KYDEX® sheet can be welded using several techniques. See Technical Brief 151-B (ultrasonic) and Technical Brief 110-E (Hot air) for details.

Can mechanical fasteners be used with KYDEX® sheet?

Yes, see Technical Brief 151-A for details.

Can you rout KYDEX® sheet?

Yes. KYDEX® sheet can be easily routed. See Technical Brief 153-A for details.

Does SEKISUI SPI do any fabrication work?

No. SEKISUI SPI does not perform any secondary operations on our extruded sheet.

How do I remove stress whitening from KYDEX® sheet?

Stress whitening can be removed from KYDEX® sheet with the addition of localized heat. See Technical Brief 153-C for details.

How do you cut KYDEX® sheet?

There are several ways to cut KYDEX® sheet. See Technical Brief 153-A for details.

What is the difference between High Frequency and Ultrasonic welding?

Ultrasonic welding subjects the plastic to sound waves at frequencies around 30-40kHz, which vibrates the plastic. High Frequency or Radio welding subjects the plastic to frequencies around 20-30MHz, which vibrates the molecules. See Technical Brief 151-B.

What does the flame spread index mean?

Flame spread index, or FSI, is the area under the distance-time plot, which is ft/min. It can range from 0-200.

No. But there are a number of high-heat ALLEN®  thermoplastic products: E3400,8100, Alextra® ET, Alextra® MV, FR3030

Do you have screws and mounting grommet for a KYDEX® sheet Holster?

No.

Does KYDEX® sheet out-gas when thermoformed?

Mostly lubricants. No HCl until it starts to burn above 425ºF

How does KYDEX® sheet compare to SenoPlast?

SenoPlast is an ABS/PC coextruded sheet with PMMA cap. Our gloss may be close to theirs in PA but our surface would scratch very easily and their HDT is greater. Visit http://www.senoplast.com.

How does ALLEN® sheet compare to SenoPlast?

Senosan AM 50 grades are PMMA/ABS. The ALLEN® line includes comparable sheet products. Please call for details.

Is KYDEX® sheet recyclable?

KYDEX® sheet is 100% recyclable.

Is ALLEN® sheet recyclable?

Yes ALLEN® sheet is recyclable.

Is KYDEX® sheet similar to Polywall?

KYDEX® sheet should work very similarly. This is being used as a moisture barrier on new construction inside walls. Visit http://www.parklandplastics.com/polywall.shtml.

What does IPC stand for?

IPC stands for InPro Corp: InPro Corporation is a global leader of quality interior and exterior architectural products. Competes against Koroseal.

What is Concealex?

Concealex is a trade name of BladeTech for a product known as Boltaron. Boltaron is the trade name and registered product of the Empire Plastics Company.

What is ECCN?

Export Control Classification Number SEKISUI SPI ECCN: NLR or “No License Required.”

What is Poisson's ratio for KYDEX® T?

Poisson’s Ratio is v = Lateral Strain/Axial Strain, i.e. when a sample is stretched in one direction, it tends to get thinner in the other two directions. Rigid PVC is around .38. Most plastics range from .3 to .4 Cork is 0 and Rubber is .5.

What is the CAGE code for SEKISUI SPI?

CAGE Code (Commercial and Government Entity) is a 5-digit code that identifies companies doing business with the federal government. First and last digits are numeric. SEKISUI SPI CAGE Code: 0HZM3

What is the HS Tariff Code and does KYDEX® sheet meet this?

HS Tariff Code : 3920.99.0000 “Other Plastic Sheet material.”

What recommendations could you provide me for down gauging from ABS to KYDEX® sheet?

Normally, when switching from ABS to KYDEX® sheet, one can usually down gauge about 10%. Areas that need to be evaluated first: 1) The part design (ribs, etc.). 2) Depth of draw. 3) Minimum wall thickness required. 4) Thermoforming processing conditions.

Are fires involving KYDEX® Sheet more hazardous than a fire without KYDEX® Sheet?

Fires involving KYDEX® sheet are no more toxic than any other fire.

The combination of fire gases released when KYDEX® sheet burns is similar to burning wood, fabric and other materials commonly found in a building. The toxicity of building fire emissions from KYDEX® sheet is neither better nor worse than for many other common materials. The amount of dioxins produced by KYDEX® sheet in fires is found to be “insignificant.”

Are VCM emissions still a problem like they were in the 1970's?

According to the EPA, the vinyl industry’s VCM emissions have been reduced by more than 99% since the 1970s.

There is no confirmed case on record where a member of the general population has been harmed by exposure to VCM.
The actual risk among five million individuals presumed to live within five miles of a vinyl production facility has been calculated to be less than 0.1 cases of cancer in the next 70 years.
- For comparison, this is similar to the risk over a lifetime of smoking 1.4 cigarettes, drinking 0.5 liters of wine, and traveling 300 miles by car.

Can I still get a sample chain of the original 36 sample colours?

No, this sample set has been discontinued. The newer set has 64 colours - if you have the old sample chain of 36 colours, please order a new set.

Can KYDEX® sheet be stored outside?

We do not recommend that KYDEX® sheet be stored outside.

Can KYDEX ALLEN® sheet be stored outside?

We do not recommend that ALLEN® sheet be stored outside.

Does KYDEX® sheet absorb water?

Yes, but the absorption rate will be very low, around 0.05 – 0.10%. See Technical Brief 120-B for more information.

Does KYDEX® sheet contain plasticizers?

No.

Does ALLEN® sheet contain plasticizers?

No.

Does KYDEX® sheet give off emissions during thermoforming?

KYDEX® sheet does not out-gas harmful vapors unless it is exposed to extreme temperatures, those in excess of 410°F+. As noted in our MSDS/SDS, at temperatures above 425ºF hydrogen chloride gas will be emitted.

Does SEKISUI SPI recycle materials used in everyday manufacturing processes and daily tasks?

Yes. There are a number of ways in which we recycle our non-plastic materials from everyday use. Here are a few:
- Metals, office paper and corrugated cardboard are recycled
- Used oils are collected and converted to industrial fuel
- Wood pallets are recycled and turned into garden mulch

Also, post-manufactured packaging is biodegradable and/or recycled. It is designed to minimize weight/volume to reduce fuel consumption and the amount of packaging received by customers.

What are KYDEX® sheet federal colour matches?

KYDEX® sheet is matched to many Federal Standard colours. See Technical Brief 131-B for details.

Have some sample items been discontinued?

Yes, our sample boxes change about every 12-18 months to accommodate new products and to display our new colours.

How do I know if my samples chain is outdated?

Our current samples have a label with an all-gray logo. If your labels have a green bar over the logo — then it’s time to order a new set.

How does KYDEX® reuse, renew and improve?

Our Kaizen methodologies constantly seek to improve material yield and minimize waste. And, our internal recycling process re-extrudes out-of-specification product and reuses it as raw material.

How does KYDEX® save energy and conserve resources?

Air: the use of clean, non-smokestack energies, such as electricity, results in insignificant particulate matter or carbon dioxide emitted into the air
Water: the use of water for processing is limited – water never comes in contact with the process; water is recycled internally so no surface water is discharged
Energy: we save energy across the entire lifecycle of manufacturing:
▪ Raw material is shipped in rail cars to minimize fuel consumption
▪ KYDEX® thermoplastic sheet requires lower processing temperatures compared to most other polymers
▪ High-efficiency motors and sophisticated temperature controls reduce energy consumption

What are KYDEX® sheet laminate colour matches?

KYDEX® sheet is matched to many laminate colours. See Technical Brief 131-A.

What are the effects of gamma radiation on KYDEX® sheet?

Gamma radiation tends to discolour and lower the physical properties of KYDEX® sheet, depending upon the grade. Technical Brief 122-B.

What are the product capabilities and tolerances of KYDEX® sheet?

For thickness tolerances and width and length tolerances see Technical Brief 101-A.

What are your storage recommendations for KYDEX® 6565, 6565d, and 5555?

See Technical Brief 140-G for details.

What is Type 2 PVC?

Type 2 PVC is high impact PVC. Our PVC products would be considered Type 2 PVC.

What level of dioxins are really in KYDEX® products?

PVC is such a small source of dioxins that levels in the environment would be essentially unchanged even if vinyl were not being manufactured and used every day.

- US EPA states dioxin levels in the environment are declining while vinyl production is growing.
- Studies by US Vinyl Institute show trace, insignificant levels of dioxin in PVC resins and products.
- US Vinyl Institute confirmed presence of low concentrations of dioxin in waste water samples from four US plants that manufacture EDC/VCM

Which organizations do fair research on PVC and Vinyl — and provide results?

Global Industry Alliance, Vinyl 2010, and Green Building Council of Australia.

Does KYDEX® sheet contain any residual thermal gradients?

Yes. These occur during the cooling process after extrusion (residual internal
stresses). As soon as the sheet is thermoformed there would be a new set of
thermal gradients (residual stresses) introduced into the part.

What are the acoustical properties of KYDEX® sheet?

What are the dielectric (radomes) properties of KYDEX® sheet?

See Technical Brief 122-A for details.

What are the HDT: Heat Distortion (Max Service Temp) properties of KYDEX® sheet?

What are the Low Temp Impact (Min Service Temp) properties of KYDEX® sheet?

What is the CLTE of KYDEX® T?

3.83 x 10-5/degrees F. See Technical Brief 121-C for details.

What is the coefficient of Thermal Expansion (CLTE) of KYDEX® sheet?

Approximately 4.0 x 10^-5. See Technical Brief 121-C for details.

What is the density of KYDEX® sheet?

Density range is 1.31 to 1.55. Specific gravity is grams/cm^3. See datasheets for specific gravities.

What is the dielectric strength of KYDEX® Sheet?

KYDEX® 100 has a dielectric strength of about 500 Volts/mil in a medium of oil and as high as 1000 Volts/mil in a medium of air.

What is the flash temp and self-ignition temp of KYDEX® sheet?

735° and 849° respectively. See MSDS 101 for details.

What is the microwave transparency of KYDEX® sheet?

KYDEX® sheet will be invisible to the typical microwave frequency, which is around 2.4GHz. We do not recommend using KYDEX® sheet in the microwave but it should do fine against incidental exposure. Blacks can absorb these frequencies and heat up.

What is the permeability of KYDEX® sheet?

The permeability constant measured at room temperature via ASTM D-895 is: 1.7 X 10-8g cm/hr cm2 mmHg. This was measured for 0.187” KYDEX® 100.

What is the RTI value for KYDEX® T?

The relative thermal index (RTI) is 50ºC for all products under the UL listing. The existing RTI listed for our products is based on the generic class of the material, i.e. rigid PVC and was not tested directly with KYDEX® sheet products.

What is the thermal conductivity of KYDEX® 100/T?

Score 0.028” thick sheet with a utility knife. Then, bend the sheet parallel to the score by pushing the outer edges together, and the score away from your body.

Is PK texture ok for screen printing?

Yes. All textures are printable although the quality of the end product will be determined by depth of texture. PK is relatively shallow.

Is SEKISUI SPI listed at UL for metalized parts (UL746C)?

No, SEKISUI SPI has not completed any testing, although Electrodag 550 is listed on the UL site for KYDEX® T (UL File# QMRX2.E88671)

Are the JAA/FAA and JAR/FAR specs the same?

It appears that for the most part these specs mirror each other. The JAA specs are the Joint Aviation Authority and the JAR specs are Joint Aviation (airworthiness) Requirements.

Are there any Coast Guard Certifications for KYDEX® sheet?

Could you provide me with some information on FM 4880 Class 1 Testing?

FM 4880 Class 1 and ASTM E-84 Class 1 are for two different tests. Any FM approved products would be labeled/classified as “FM Approved Class 1” and would carry the FM Approval Mark.

No, but KYDEX® 100 would be closest.

No, D-4802 is a spec for Polyacrylic sheet (80% acrylic), which KYDEX® ® sheet is not; and it specifies category, finish and UV type.

Yes, DHMS P 1.09: This spec was written for KYDEX® sheet and covers the requirements for self-extinguishing thermoplastic sheet material manufactured from a blend of acrylic-polyvinyl chloride.

Yes, KYDEX® 6200 does, which pertains to ASTM E-162 (Flame Spread) and E-662 (Smoke).

No, MIL P.19904: Plastics Sheet, ABS Terpolymer, Rigid, is for ABS and we have not tested to this spec. This spec was canceled in 1990 and was not replaced.

Does KYDEX® sheet meet NFPA 130?

We have not tested to NFPA 130, but this test calls for ASTM 162 and 662 so the product would be KYDEX® 6200.

Does KYDEX® sheet meet NFPA 701 or 705?

No, KYDEX® sheet does not meet either Spec. NFPA (National Fire Prevention Association) 701: NFPA 705 Recommended Practice for a Field Flame Test for Textiles and Films.

Does KYDEX® sheet meet UL2043 or UL945VA at .187?

Not UL 2043. KYDEX® sheet does meet UL945VA at .118” and above in all products listed at UL.

Does KYDEX® T meet 5VB at .187

Yes, 5VA at .125”.

Does KYDEX® T meet ISO 10993?

Yes. KYDEX® T meets ISO 10993-5 Cytotoxicity and ISO 10993-10 Irritation and Skin Sensitization criteria.

Does KYDEX® T meet the ASTM D-635 flammability spec?

This has not been tested, but ASTM D-635 is basically the same as UL std. 94.

What ASTM QUV test method do you use?

What is the difference between ASTM D-5420 and D-3029 (Dropdart)?

ASTM D-3029 Method G became D-5420, Method F became another spec. Method G is then broken into more specific geometries (GA, GB, GC, GD, and GE) We have tested to
GE and GB.

What is USP 797 and do you meet it?

Not directly. It appears KYDEX® sheet would have to meet an ISO Class 5 (or Fed Stnd 209E – Class 100) according to U.S. Pharmacopeia’s (USP) Chapter 797.

What meets Bell Helicopter's 299-947-160 class V?

This is the flammability part of Bell’s 209-947-508. Part V is for VERTICAL burn, which KYDEX® 100 meets. KYDEX® 100 meets Calls I Type I of the overall spec of 209-947-508.

What meets Radiant Panel (RP200)?

All products probably will but only KYDEX® T grey is listed at UL with a rating of RP15, which is the best. The only other products tested to ASTM E-162 are KYDEX® 6565 and KYDEX® 6200.

What product meets 100/100?

KYDEX® 657 met 100/100, but this is no longer offered in our product lines. KYDEX® 6565 took its place and passes 65/65 for heat release.

What product meets BAMS 540-009?

Many ALLEN® sheet products are hydroscopic and should be kept in a climate controlled environment or dried prior to thermoforming. Any moisture in sheet products can or will create surface imperfections.

How do you dry KYDEX® 6565?

Drying is generally not required except in high humidity conditions. If the material needs to be dried, it should be dried at 68°C (155°F) or about 15° below the product’s HDT for 16 hours for 3.20mm (0.125”) thickness. [2mm for 10 hours and 6.4mm for 24 hours.]
