COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Impact 

Dear SEKISUI SPI Partners,

I presume that by now you have been inundated with letters from suppliers and customers about how they are washing their hands, maintaining social distancing, and making the welfare of their employees their first priority! At this point you also know that SEKISUI SPI is aggressively complying with or exceeding all CDC and State protocols, have employees working remotely (if they are able to), and focusing on the health and well-being of our key employees, those on the manufacturing floor.    

Because the COVID-19 situation changes by the day, both our company and you must make business decisions based on those changes. Below you will find the SEKISUI SPI situation report which we will update as we make changes to our protocols. Please reference this report for the current status of our supply chain, production, lead times, etc. 

So with that said, let’s just jump right into our situation report, or as we used to say in the Navy, our daily SITREP.     


Mar 27, 2020  Overall status: GREEN [No change from yesterday.]

Summary: All plants are fully operational and we expect to continue to operate indefinitely. 

Background:  In the past few days, both Pennsylvania and Michigan have ordered all non-life-sustaining and non-critical businesses to close their physical locations. According to the orders in both states, SEKISUI SPI is a critical manufacturing business and exempted from the shut-down order.   

Many of the KYDEX® and ALLEN® thermoplastic materials produced by SEKISUI SPI in both Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania and Holland, Michigan are used for the manufacturing of medical devices including ventilators, hospital beds, sterilization units, crash carts, medical trays, diagnostic equipment, and many other life-saving products. 

Employees: No COVID-19 cases have been reported. All production shifts are fully staffed and operating normally. All remote employees are set up and functioning for over one week with no significant issues reported. 

Customers: We are maintaining normal lead times. We are expediting all orders for COVID-19 related medical applications. Please contact our Customer Collaboration Team with order information.   

Suppliers: We are experiencing no material supply issues and all suppliers have indicated that they expect to be able to continue to supply all necessary materials.   

Shipping: Our Shipping is operating normally at this time. We are working with our 3PL providers to ensure continued services. Our dedicated trucks for the Holland, MI facility are fully operational.   

Management: The Senior Management Team continues to meet daily (remotely) to monitor this rapidly changing situation and to update our plans as needed.
